Sunshine Challenge is an AHA and BJCP sanctioned homebrewed beer, mead, and cider competition sponsored by the Central Florida Homebrewers (CFHB).
For information on early round judging please check our website (http://www.cfhb.org). The final judging will begin at 9am on Friday, November 1st. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday evening at 7:30 P.M. at the same location. Judges will not be allowed to judge in categories that they have entered.
Sunshine Challenge is open to all homebrewers everywhere. All entries must have been brewed at home. Entries brewed at commercial establishments, including brew-on-premise are ineligible.
HOW TO ENTER
All Beer entries must be in 10-16 oz. brown or green glass. No bottles with ink name-brand lettering (i.e. Corona), or glued on paper labels. Raised NO DEPOSIT, or manufacturer names or codes ARE acceptable, so Sam Adams or other mass-market bottles are perfectly acceptable as long as they are label-free. Beers must be capped with crown caps. Meads & Ciders may be entered in 6 to 16oz bottles. Grolsch-type swing tops are acceptable for meads and ciders. No 22 ounce bombers, 750 ml bottles or plastic bottles are permitted.
Bottles not meeting these requirements will be disqualified. An entry consists of 3 bottles. If you choose to submit less than 3 bottles, you must mention the number of bottles in the comments when registering. Submitting two bottles will make the entry ineligible for Best of Show and submitting 1 bottle will make the entry ineligible for any medal, though you will still get a complete review and score sheet. Entries cost $7.00 each. Paper entries will not be accepted. All entries must be entered via the online entry system. Make checks or money orders payable to CFHB. Please attach your check to one of your entries with a rubber band. PayPal payments are also accepted for up to 10 on-line entries via the website. The online web entry can be found on the website.
The on-line entry system will create a bottle identification page for each entry. Attach the completed bottle I.D. form to each bottle with a rubber band. You will be disqualified if you use glue or tape to secure the forms!

All BJCP beer and mead categories and associated sub-categories from the 2008 BJCP style guidelines will be accepted in this competition. Complete style guidelines can be found at the BJCP site: http://www.bjcp.org. Entrants are responsible for placing their entry in the proper category. No entries will be re-classified. With fruit beer, herb beer, specialty beer, smoked beer and meads, be sure to list the special ingredients.
All 28 categories of beer, mead, cider and their associated sub-categories will be accepted. NOTE: Categories 1-19 are restricted to two entries per sub-category by Florida Homebrew Circuit rules. Every beer will be judged to the style that you designate on your entry forms. Any entry that has been disqualified for rules infractions will be judged, but will not be eligible for awards!
Categories may be combined or split at the discretion of the Competition Organizer and the Judge Director. If an insufficient quantity of entries is received in a given category, then those entries will be moved to combined categories to be judged according to the category originally entered.
AWARDS AND PRIZES
First, Second, and Third place medals will be awarded for each category, however entries must score a minimum of 25 points to be eligible for a medal. Winners present at the awards ceremony may also receive a fabulous prize donated by one of our gracious sponsors.
