As a dues paying member of the Central Florida Home Brewers, you are granted certain rights, privileges and benefits. One of the lesser-known benefits is the Club’s association with the Meisters.
The Meisters are a group of more learned and experienced brewers and mead makers. We used to call our selves Brewmeisters. But to be more politically correct, and not exclude the mead makers, we now call ourselves Meisters. We are dedicated to passing on our knowledge and appreciation of the art, craft and appreciation of beer and mead.
Although we are all members of CFHB, the Meisters are not an official Team such as Events and Newsletter. We are actually independent; however, the best way to share our knowledge is through our support and participation with such a great group of beer/mead enthusiasts as the CFHB.
An example of that support is evident at almost every CFHB general meeting. Most months there is a tasting or other beer/mead related presentation put on by one or more of the Meisters. Another example is the classes held throughout the year. Ron Bach conducts a series of intense Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) preparatory classes. We hold an annual Mead judging/appreciation/making class in January prior to the Meadllennium competition.
Another example of assistance offered by the Meisters is our responsiveness to questions posted to the Meister section of the CFHB web site. A similar form of help we tender is hands-on. Ron Raike and Takumi Sato have arranged Teach a Friend to Homebrew days, watch your club calendar for the next one scheduled soon.
